Now, more than ever, a college education is crucial for success. But are students across America ready for the challenge?A story in the New York Times today states that
President Obama has made reducing the drop-out rate and increasing college and career preparedness a priority for his administration.But is making career preparedness a priority realistic? With all the focus these days on standardized testing, one can only wonder how students could ever prepare for college -- how could they? They spend 50% of their time studying for state exams to graduate high school.
Obviously, this approach hasn't worked so far-- I think change is in order.
