Are you ready to attend College?

Now, more than ever, a college education is crucial for success. But are students across America ready for the challenge?
A story in the New York Times today states that

President Obama has made reducing the drop-out rate and increasing college and career preparedness a priority for his administration.

But is making career preparedness a priority realistic? With all the focus these days on standardized testing, one can only wonder how students could ever prepare for college -- how could they? They spend 50% of their time studying for state exams to graduate high school.
Obviously, this approach hasn't worked so far-- I think change is in order.
