The Best College Towns in America (some surprises here!)

Go ahead and admit it... we all love a good college town. You know the kind I'm talking about... pedestrian friendly streets, cafes (or bars) on every corner. Well, a new list of the Best College Towns in America has just been released:

 

What makes these towns the best collegiate towns? Is it the number of bars per capita? The number of museums, art galleries, coffee shops or used bookstores?

The main characteristic of a college town is that the college or university has a widespread impact on all aspects of life within that particular town. The city simply exists for the sake of the university. Therefore, yes, all of these cities are centers for the students that include coffee shops, eateries, and bars. Many of these cities also center on the athletic events of the particular college as well.
